Title: Salve regina (for broken voices) RCM72 cover
Composer: John Browne
Editor: Nick Sandon
Reference: RCM72
Price (GBP): 5.25
Description: John Browne was probably a member of the household chapel of John de Vere, Earl of Oxford, a staunch supporter of the Lancastrians and Tudors and one of the richest men in England. This setting for male voices—tenor, baritone and bass—of a Marian antiphon text often set by English fifteenth-century composers has the richness, intensity and solemnity characteristic of Browne’s music for this medium. One of Antico’s transposed editions of Eton choirbook music written at an unusually high or low pitch; a transcription at source pitch is also included in order to show the evidence upon which the editorial interpretation of the accidentals in the piece is based. For five voices: TTBarBB. vi + 36 pages. ISMN 979-0-57039-159-2.
