Description: |
These songs from the important Spanish collection known as the Cancionero musical de Segovia date from about 1500. The first three—Gran gasajo siento yo, Nuevas nuevas and Al del hato (probably all by Juan de Encina)—dramatise the shepherds’ experience of the Nativity; the fourth song, Dezí flor rresplandeçiente, is addressed to the Virgin; and the fifth, Quál estávades anoche, by contrast recollects a tavern orgy. In three and four parts, the music will suit solo voices, small choir or instrumental consort. For more songs from this source, see AE19. Now in a second edition. i + 10 pages.
